TaithCymru coach service set to link Bangor and Carmarthen from 25 October

A new daily coach service between Bangor and Carmarthen is due to start on Sunday 25 October, the Welsh Government has announced.

The service, named TaithCymru, is planned to call at Caernarfon, Porthmadog, Dolgellau, Machynlleth, Aberystwyth and Aberaeron. The Welsh Government says it will cut north-to-south journey times by more than an hour and improve access to work, education, healthcare and leisure for communities on the route.

Tickets are expected to go on sale from 10:00 on Tuesday 6 October through an online booking system being developed and run by Transport for Wales. Fares are still being finalised and will be published when that system is live.

The announcement describes TaithCymru as part of the Welsh Government's 100-day commitments and its wider plan for an integrated public-transport network. It says the coach will work alongside TrawsCymru, local bus services and Fflecsi.

Deputy Minister for Transport Mark Hooper said the service was being prepared to link north and south Wales, while Transport for Wales executive director Lee Robinson described it as a step towards improved connectivity.
