CMA sets out private-parking recommendations to government

The Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) has written to government with recommendations on the private parking sector.

The CMA says it is taking action to improve the experience of UK drivers when dealing with private parking operators, including how people are treated when they receive and challenge parking charges.

It says it has particular concerns about potentially unfair practices, including the handling of appeals and attempts to recover fees in addition to the parking charge.

The publication is a letter setting out recommendations and concerns. It does not announce a new legal rule or a confirmed change to charges in Wales.
