RHA calls for road investment after citing £30.8bn congestion cost

The Road Haulage Association says congestion costs the UK £30.8bn a year and wants roadbuilding and sustained network investment on the agenda.

The Road Haulage Association has called for roadbuilding and sustained investment in the road network after citing a £30.8 billion annual cost of congestion to the UK.

Commenting after Transport Focus published its Strategic Roads User Survey, RHA infrastructure policy lead James Barwise said disrupted and inefficient journeys affected the industry and the wider economy.

The association said 85% of everything bought in the UK moves by road and argued that road investment would improve the network and driver satisfaction. Those figures and the call for policy action are RHA claims, not independent motors.wales verification.
