Welsh Government opens consultation on Bus Services Act regulations
The consultation covers local bus contracts, information and data, and the application of TUPE regulations under the Bus Services (Wales) Act 2026.
The Welsh Government has opened a consultation to help shape regulations under the Bus Services (Wales) Act 2026, which received Royal Assent in February.
The proposals cover three areas: terms for local bus service contracts, information and data on local bus services, and the application of TUPE Regulations to employee transfers connected with those contracts.
The government says the proposals were developed through engagement with local authorities, operators, trade unions and the wider sector. It is inviting responses from people with an interest in local bus services in Wales.
The consultation is a policy-development step; the release does not itself set out final regulations or a confirmed change to individual services.
